Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Technology Hardware & Equipment, Technology and Media sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX fell 1.41%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were KPN Kon (AMS:KPN), which rose 1.99% or 0.062 points to trade at 3.181 at the close. Arcelormittal (AMS:ISPA) added 1.68% or 0.16 points to end at 9.45 and Royal Dutch Shell A (AMS:RDSa) was up 0.51% or 0.14 points to 28.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ASML Holding (AMS:ASML), which lost 5.52% or 5.61 points to trade at 96.09 in late trade. Wolters Kluwer (AMS:WLSNc) declined 2.64% or 0.82 points to end at 30.29 and Gemalto (AMS:GTO) shed 2.52% or 1.92 points to 74.12.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 196 to 62 and 3 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 9.44% to 17.90.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was up 2.95% or 1.40 to $48.91 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 2.51% or 1.39 to hit $56.49 a barrel, while the April Gold contract rose 0.47% or 5.60 to trade at $1197.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.39% to 1.0967, while EUR/GBP rose 0.14% to 0.7367.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.32% at 97.12.
