Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Basic Materials and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX fell 1.11% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Akzo Nobel (AS:AKZO), which rose 0.33% or 0.20 points to trade at 60.11 at the close. Wolters Kluwer (AS:WLSNc) added 0.30% or 0.11 points to end at 37.20 and Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD) was up 0.10% or 0.02 points to 20.77 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which lost 3.76% or 0.197 points to trade at 5.048 in late trade. Aegon (AS:AEGN) declined 3.17% or 0.112 points to end at 3.419 and ABN AMRO Group NV (AS:ABNd) shed 2.98% or 0.56 points to 18.21.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 117 to 48 and 9 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 4.83% to 18.77 a new 1-month high.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was down 2.59% or 1.20 to $45.09 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November fell 2.15% or 1.04 to hit $47.28 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.11% or 1.40 to trade at $1327.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.01% to 1.1234, while EUR/GBP rose 1.12% to 0.8518.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.32% at 95.42.
