Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Technology Hardware & Equipment, Technology and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 0.60%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Unilever Dr (AMS:UNc), which rose 2.38% or 0.97 points to trade at 41.88 at the close. Gemalto (AMS:GTO) added 1.60% or 1.28 points to end at 81.34 and Royal Dutch Shell A (AMS:RDSa) was up 1.42% or 0.41 points to 29.35 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ASML Holding (AMS:ASML), which lost 3.17% or 2.90 points to trade at 88.50 in late trade. KPN Kon (AMS:KPN) declined 2.73% or 0.092 points to end at 3.273 and Arcelormittal (AMS:ISPA) shed 2.59% or 0.24 points to 9.20.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 186 to 67 and 1 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 5.49% to 18.63.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was down 0.59% or 0.33 to $56.06 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 0.29% or 0.18 to hit $63.13 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.37% or 4.50 to trade at $1196.80 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.45% to 1.0730, while EUR/GBP fell 0.01% to 0.7194.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.44% at 98.11.
