Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Technology and Healthcare sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX fell 0.36%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were KPN Kon (AS:KPN), which rose 1.77% or 0.049 points to trade at 2.825 at the close. Unibail Rodamco SE (AS:UNBP) added 1.36% or 3.00 points to end at 223.20 and Vopak (AS:VOPA) was up 1.12% or 0.50 points to 45.31 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which lost 2.10% or 0.151 points to trade at 7.046 in late trade. ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) declined 1.48% or 0.200 points to end at 13.325 and SBM Offshore (AS:SBMO) shed 1.16% or 0.17 points to 14.96.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 69 to 55 and 12 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 5.18% to 16.31.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was down 0.67% or 0.36 to $53.70 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March fell 0.35% or 0.20 to hit $56.76 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 1.40% or 15.95 to trade at $1156.85 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.63% to 1.0481, while EUR/GBP rose 0.56% to 0.8570.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.48% at 102.74.
