Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Healthcare, Financials and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 0.31%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Gemalto (AS:GTO), which rose 2.00% or 1.07 points to trade at 54.54 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) added 1.74% or 0.130 points to end at 7.580 and Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD) was up 1.28% or 0.24 points to 19.43 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ABN AMRO Group NV (AS:ABNd), which lost 1.97% or 0.42 points to trade at 20.91 in late trade. ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) declined 1.73% or 0.235 points to end at 13.385 and Akzo Nobel (AS:AKZO) shed 1.09% or 0.65 points to 59.20.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 77 to 51 and 11 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 2.48% to 14.68.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was down 2.02% or 1.07 to $51.91 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 1.72% or 0.96 to hit $54.76 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.57% or 6.60 to trade at $1165.60 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.40% to 1.0667, while EUR/GBP rose 0.01% to 0.8395.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.29% at 100.79.
