Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Telecoms, Healthcare and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX gained 3.49%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Aegon (AS:AEGN), which rose 6.52% or 0.252 points to trade at 4.118 at the close. Altice NV (AS:ATCA) added 5.82% or 0.77 points to end at 14.00 and Randstad (AS:RAND) was up 4.76% or 2.06 points to 45.21 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Gemalto (AS:GTO), which added 1.03% or 0.54 points to trade at 53.10 in late trade. Boskalis Westmin (AS:BOSN) added 2.05% or 0.64 points to end at 31.61 and SBM Offshore (AS:SBMO) gained 2.33% or 0.24 points to 10.53.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 156 to 18 and 4 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 11.48% to 30.42.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 2.64% or 1.28 to $49.84 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 2.70% or 1.33 to hit $50.50 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.39% or 5.05 to trade at $1289.75 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.28% to 1.1309, while EUR/GBP fell 1.92% to 0.7702.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.58% at 93.75.
