Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Healthcare, Food Producers and Technology Hardware & Equipment sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 1.04% to hit a new 5-year high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Arcelormittal (AMS:ISPA), which rose 3.39% or 0.32 points to trade at 9.88 at the close. ING Groep (AMS:ING) added 2.40% or 0.335 points to end at 14.305 and ASML Holding (AMS:ASML) was up 2.21% or 2.19 points to 101.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included NN Group (AMS:NN), which lost 0.43% or 0.12 points to trade at 26.52 in late trade. Ahold Kon (AMS:AHLN) declined 0.32% or 0.06 points to end at 18.52 and Reed Elsevier (AMS:ELSN) shed 0.31% or 0.070 points to 22.530.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 187 to 62 and 1 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 4.86% to 18.82.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 0.14% or 0.08 to $57.23 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 0.16% or 0.10 to hit $65.17 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 2.43% or 28.60 to trade at $1203.60 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.41% to 1.0920, while EUR/GBP fell 0.01% to 0.7158.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.42% at 96.66.
