Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Media, Telecoms and Support Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX added 0.72%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Wolters Kluwer (AMS:WLSNc), which rose 6.18% or 1.73 points to trade at 29.72 at the close. Altice SA (AMS:ATCE) added 4.10% or 4.70 points to end at 119.30 and KPN Kon (AMS:KPN) was up 3.66% or 0.127 points to 3.598 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ING Groep (AMS:ING), which lost 1.06% or 0.165 points to trade at 15.345 in late trade. Boskalis Westmin (AMS:BOSN) declined 1.06% or 0.47 points to end at 43.70 and Gemalto (AMS:GTO) shed 0.98% or 0.77 points to 77.65.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 154 to 66 and 2 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 3.28% to 18.27.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 2.52% or 1.21 to $49.19 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 1.08% or 0.57 to hit $53.88 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.09% or 1.00 to trade at $1095.70 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.33% to 1.1024, while EUR/GBP fell 0.39% to 0.7056.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.20% at 96.96.
