Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Technology Hardware & Equipment, Technology and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX gained 0.62%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ASML Holding (AMS:ASML), which rose 2.69% or 2.40 points to trade at 91.62 at the close. Heineken (AMS:HEIN) added 2.67% or 1.97 points to end at 75.75 and Altice SA (AMS:ATCE) was up 2.49% or 2.50 points to 102.85 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Arcelormittal (AMS:ISPA), which lost 1.52% or 0.14 points to trade at 8.84 in late trade. Aegon (AMS:AEGN) declined 0.98% or 0.071 points to end at 7.186 and Royal Dutch Shell A (AMS:RDSa) shed 0.82% or 0.24 points to 29.20.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 156 to 89 and 2 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 2.85% to 19.70.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.76% or 0.44 to $57.44 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 0.91% or 0.57 to hit $62.88 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.67% or 8.00 to trade at $1201.70 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.22% to 1.0761, while EUR/GBP fell 0.19% to 0.7189.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.22% at 97.94.
