Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Financials and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 0.55%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which rose 7.76% or 0.31 points to trade at 4.36 at the close. SBM Offshore (AS:SBMO) added 3.45% or 0.38 points to end at 11.24 and Aegon (AS:AEGN) was up 2.95% or 0.139 points to 4.855 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Gemalto (AS:GTO), which lost 3.01% or 1.82 points to trade at 58.65 in late trade. Heineken (AS:HEIN) declined 0.76% or 0.60 points to end at 78.42 and ASML Holding (AS:ASML) shed 0.39% or 0.35 points to 88.30.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 101 to 59 and 14 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 1.58% to 21.04.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was up 1.61% or 0.64 to $40.36 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 1.88% or 0.79 to hit $42.73 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 1.25% or 15.60 to trade at $1259.40 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.12% to 1.1416, while EUR/GBP fell 0.76% to 0.8017.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.31% at 93.93.
