Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Telecoms, Healthcare and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 0.48%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were KPN Kon (AMS:KPN), which rose 2.75% or 0.089 points to trade at 3.330 at the close. Altice SA (AMS:ATCE) added 1.98% or 2.00 points to end at 103.00 and Philips Kon (AMS:PHG) was up 1.74% or 0.46 points to 26.95 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Royal Dutch Shell A (AMS:RDSa), which lost 1.18% or 0.33 points to trade at 27.67 in late trade. Randstad (AMS:RAND) declined 0.82% or 0.47 points to end at 56.65 and Unibail-Rodamco (AMS:UNBP) shed 0.66% or 1.65 points to 249.10.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 163 to 81 and 8 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 2.40% to 19.55.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was down 1.40% or 0.70 to $49.39 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 3.04% or 1.74 to hit $55.37 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.73% or 8.80 to trade at $1199.40 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 1.13% to 1.0884, while EUR/GBP rose 0.87% to 0.7324.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.82% at 97.72.
