Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Healthcare, Media and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX added 0.13%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ING Groep (AMS:ING), which rose 1.97% or 0.270 points to trade at 13.995 at the close. Aegon (AMS:AEGN) added 1.79% or 0.124 points to end at 7.060 and Aalberts Industries (AMS:AALB) was up 1.62% or 0.44 points to 27.59 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Arcelormittal (AMS:ISPA), which lost 2.54% or 0.24 points to trade at 9.33 in late trade. Royal Dutch Shell A (AMS:RDSa) declined 1.49% or 0.42 points to end at 27.71 and Boskalis Westmin (AMS:BOSN) shed 1.15% or 0.53 points to 45.52.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 163 to 83 and 7 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 1.51% to 22.18.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 2.17% or 1.32 to $59.61 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 2.06% or 1.40 to hit $66.38 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.69% or 8.20 to trade at $1182.10 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.67% to 1.1274, while EUR/GBP fell 0.50% to 0.7405.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.61% at 94.76.
