Investing.com – Mexico equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Telecoms Services, Materials and Consumer Staples sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Mexico, the IPC fell 1.06%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IPC were Telesites SAB de CV (MX:SITESL), which rose 3.99% or 0.480 points to trade at 12.510 at the close. PINFRA SAB De CV (MX:PINFRA) added 0.98% or 2.080 points to end at 214.380 and Grupo Financiero Banorte (MX:GFNORTEO) was up 0.89% or 0.860 points to 97.130 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Grupo Financiero Inbursa , SAB De CV (MX:GFINBURO), which lost 2.96% or 0.940 points to trade at 30.810 in late trade. Cemex SAB de CV (MX:CMXCPO) declined 2.74% or 0.330 points to end at 11.710 and Grupo Mexico, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:GMEXICOB) shed 2.50% or 1.020 points to 39.750.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 88 to 78 and 5 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.40% or 5.15 to $1277.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 3.16% or 1.60 to hit $48.96 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 2.89% or 1.50 to trade at $50.45 a barrel.
USD/MXN was up 2.09% to 18.6308, while EUR/MXN rose 1.52% to 20.9698.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.52% at 94.59.
