Investing.com – Mexico equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Healthcare, Consumer Staples and Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Mexico, the IPC lost 0.12%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IPC were Alpek, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ALPEKA), which rose 3.51% or 0.960 points to trade at 28.310 at the close. Grupo Financiero Inbursa , SAB De CV (MX:GFINBURO) added 3.43% or 0.930 points to end at 28.060 and Infraestructura Energetica Nova SAB (MX:IENOVA) was up 3.42% or 3.00 points to 90.61 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banregio Grupo Financiero SAB De CV (MX:GFREGIOO), which lost 3.19% or 3.630 points to trade at 110.090 in late trade. Genomma Lab Internacional SAB De CV (MX:LABB) declined 2.44% or 0.550 points to end at 21.990 and Grupo Mexico, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:GMEXICOB) shed 1.97% or 1.130 points to 56.300.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 159 to 136 and 7 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was down 1.37% or 16.30 to $1174.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 8.36% or 3.78 to hit $49.01 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.08% or 0.04 to trade at $51.38 a barrel.
USD/MXN was down 0.11% to 20.5541, while EUR/MXN fell 0.04% to 21.7735.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.64% at 101.63.
