Investing.com – Mexico equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Materials, Telecoms Services and Consumer Staples sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the IPC added 0.41% to hit a new all time high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IPC were Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (MX:PENOLES), which rose 2.68% or 11.15 points to trade at 427.41 at the close. Grupo LALA SA de CV (MX:LALAB) added 1.90% or 0.68 points to end at 36.55 and Fomento Economico Mexicano UBD (MX:FMSAUBD) was up 1.89% or 3.36 points to 181.28 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Grupo Elektra , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ELEKTRA), which lost 4.72% or 39.23 points to trade at 791.50 in late trade. PINFRA SAB De CV (MX:PINFRA) declined 1.90% or 3.99 points to end at 206.40 and Grupo Televisa SAB Unit (MX:TLVACPO) shed 1.25% or 1.16 points to 91.73.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 119 to 85 and 8 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.91% or 11.03 to $1228.33 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.17% or 0.54 to hit $46.62 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.24% or 0.60 to trade at $49.02 a barrel.
USD/MXN was down 0.71% to 17.5572, while EUR/MXN fell 0.08% to 20.1400.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.71% at 94.88.
