Investing.com – Mexico equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Consumer Staples, Financial Services and Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the IPC added 0.28%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IPC were Alpek, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ALPEKA), which rose 2.77% or 0.590 points to trade at 21.920 at the close. Grupo LALA SA de CV (MX:LALAB) added 2.71% or 0.80 points to end at 30.36 and PINFRA SAB De CV (MX:PINFRA) was up 1.93% or 3.630 points to 191.800 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cemex SAB de CV (MX:CMXCPO), which lost 2.21% or 0.400 points to trade at 17.680 in late trade. Kimberly - Clark De Mexico A (MX:KIMBERA) declined 1.76% or 0.640 points to end at 35.630 and Alsea , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ALSEA) shed 1.34% or 0.790 points to 58.260.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 133 to 125 and 10 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.52% or 6.40 to $1239.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.66% or 0.35 to hit $53.46 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.02% or 0.01 to trade at $55.77 a barrel.
USD/MXN was up 0.03% to 20.3887, while EUR/MXN rose 0.05% to 21.7653.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.62% at 100.45.
