Investing.com – Mexico equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Consumer Goods & Services, Financial Services and Consumer Staples sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the IPC gained 0.20% to hit a new all time high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IPC were Grupo Elektra , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ELEKTRA), which rose 10.77% or 68.16 points to trade at 701.00 at the close. Grupo Financiero Inbursa , SAB De CV (MX:GFINBURO) added 2.53% or 0.790 points to end at 31.970 and Coca-Cola Femsa, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:KOFL) was up 1.47% or 2.01 points to 138.79 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Alfa, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ALFAA), which lost 2.01% or 0.540 points to trade at 26.280 in late trade. Nemak SAB de CV (MX:NEMAKA) declined 1.69% or 0.34 points to end at 19.74 and Bolsa Mexicana De Valores SAB De CV (MX:BOLSAA) shed 1.68% or 0.540 points to 31.690.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 108 to 105 and 6 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.74% or 21.85 to $1275.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.40% or 0.21 to hit $53.29 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.25% or 0.14 to trade at $56.12 a barrel.
USD/MXN was up 0.56% to 18.7841, while EUR/MXN rose 0.63% to 19.9214.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.32% at 100.62.
