Investing.com – Malaysia equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Technology, Construction and Plantation sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Kuala Lumpur, the FTSE Malaysia KLCI added 0.34%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the FTSE Malaysia KLCI were Genting Bhd (KL:GENT), which rose 2.66% or 0.21 points to trade at 8.09 at the close. AMMB Holdings Bhd (KL:AMMB) added 2.24% or 0.12 points to end at 5.47 and RHB Capital Bhd (KL:RHBC) was up 1.95% or 0.14 points to 7.31 in late trade.
Biggest losers included British American Tobacco (Malaysia) Bhd (KL:BATO), which lost 1.08% or 0.68 points to trade at 62.00 in late trade. Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd (KL:ASTR) declined 0.99% or 0.03 points to end at 2.99 and Public Bank Bhd (KL:PUBM) shed 0.96% or 0.18 points to 18.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 355 to 210 and 36 ended unchanged on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 1.36% or 0.70 to $52.35 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 0.97% or 0.56 to hit $57.60 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.17% or 2.00 to trade at $1161.50 a troy ounce.
SGD/MYR was down 0.21% to 2.8044, while USD/MYR fell 0.09% to 3.7905.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.37% at 96.73.
