Investing.com – Italy equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Telecoms, Chemicals and Travel & Leisure sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 lost 0.30%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Saipem (MILAN:SPMI), which rose 4.16% or 0.34 points to trade at 8.38 at the close. Tenaris (MILAN:TENR) added 2.47% or 0.28 points to end at 11.61 and Terna (MILAN:TRN) was up 0.77% or 0.032 points to 4.180 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Salvatore Ferragamo (MILAN:SFER), which lost 5.64% or 1.47 points to trade at 24.58 in late trade. Banca Pop Emilia Romagna (MILAN:EMII) declined 3.12% or 0.250 points to end at 7.765 and Telecom Italia (MILAN:TLIT) shed 2.74% or 0.031 points to 1.101.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 302 to 147 and 5 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was up 6.91% or 2.94 to $45.50 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 6.13% or 2.92 to hit $50.48 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.98% or 11.00 to trade at $1133.60 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.72% to 1.1163, while EUR/GBP fell 0.52% to 0.7261.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.57% at 96.29.
