Investing.com – Italy equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Technology, Financials and Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the FTSE MIB declined 2.28% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the FTSE MIB were Telecom Italia (MILAN:TLIT), which rose 0.47% or 0.005 points to trade at 1.056 at the close. Pirelli & C (MILAN:PECI) added 0.13% or 0.02 points to end at 15.38 and World Duty Free SpA (MILAN:WDF) was down 0.10% or 0.010 points to 10.000 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV (MILAN:FCHA), which lost 4.65% or 0.690 points to trade at 14.150 in late trade. Mediolanum (MILAN:MED) declined 4.50% or 0.365 points to end at 7.755 and Banca Monte Paschi Siena (MILAN:BMPS) shed 3.96% or 0.0225 points to 0.5460.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 411 to 75 and 1 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 3.07% or 1.75 to $58.81 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 2.27% or 1.47 to hit $66.11 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.35% or 4.20 to trade at $1209.70 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 1.69% to 1.1167, while EUR/GBP rose 0.82% to 0.7216.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.34% at 94.90.
