Investing.com – Italy equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Travel & Leisure, Oil & Gas and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the FTSE MIB lost 0.49%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the FTSE MIB were STMicroelectronics (MILAN:STM), which rose 3.30% or 0.250 points to trade at 7.825 at the close. Finmeccanica (MILAN:SIFI) added 2.09% or 0.250 points to end at 12.200 and Enel Green Power (MILAN:EGPW) was up 1.37% or 0.023 points to 1.707 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Saipem (MILAN:SPMI), which lost 3.00% or 0.36 points to trade at 11.63 in late trade. Banca Pop Emilia Romagna (MILAN:EMII) declined 2.02% or 0.160 points to end at 7.760 and CNH Industrial NV (MILAN:CNHI) shed 1.98% or 0.165 points to 8.175.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 267 to 200 and 5 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was down 1.03% or 0.59 to $56.92 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 0.12% or 0.07 to hit $62.13 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.13% or 1.50 to trade at $1188.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.11% to 1.0917, while EUR/GBP rose 0.52% to 0.7139.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.02% at 97.36.
