Investing.com – Italy equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Telecoms, Chemicals and Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the FTSE MIB lost 0.20%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the FTSE MIB were STMicroelectronics (MILAN:STM), which rose 7.63% or 0.520 points to trade at 7.335 at the close. Azimut Holding (MILAN:AZMT) added 1.87% or 0.45 points to end at 24.50 and Moncler SpA (MILAN:MONC) was up 1.57% or 0.27 points to 17.47 in late trade.
Biggest losers included CNH Industrial NV (MILAN:CNHI), which lost 2.01% or 0.175 points to trade at 8.540 in late trade. Telecom Italia (MILAN:TLIT) declined 2.00% or 0.025 points to end at 1.225 and Enel (MILAN:ENEI) shed 1.51% or 0.066 points to 4.296.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 229 to 226 and 5 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.77% or 0.38 to $48.81 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.33% or 0.18 to hit $55.95 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.35% or 3.80 to trade at $1095.30 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.59% to 1.0993, while EUR/GBP rose 1.23% to 0.7085.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.37% at 97.26.
