Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the IT, Technology and Power sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.28%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.38%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were TATA STEEL LIMITED (NS:TISC), which rose 3.79% or 13.60 points to trade at 372.90 at the close. Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI) added 3.26% or 11.95 points to end at 378.90 and Idea Cellular Ltd (NS:IDEA) was up 3.25% or 3.50 points to 111.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY), which lost 8.82% or 103.70 points to trade at 1072.55 in late trade. Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS) declined 3.04% or 76.55 points to end at 2445.35 and Wipro Ltd . (NS:WIPR) shed 2.82% or 16.10 points to 554.50.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were TATA STEEL LIMITED (BO:TISC) which rose 3.80% to 372.85, Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was up 3.32% to settle at 378.50 and HDFC Bank Ltd. (BO:HDBK) which gained 1.95% to close at 1223.60.
The worst performers were Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which was down 8.81% to 1072.25 in late trade, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which lost 3.11% to settle at 2441.90 and Wipro Ltd. (BO:WIPR) which was down 2.81% to 554.65 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1012 to 465 and 53 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1088 fell and 526 advanced, while 54 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.18% to 15.6375.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.18% or 2.45 to $1334.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.61% or 0.28 to hit $45.40 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.59% or 0.28 to trade at $47.09 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.43% to 67.060, while EUR/INR rose 0.48% to 74.6830.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.10% at 96.00.
