Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Auto, IT and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 1.59% to hit a new 52-week high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 1.58%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Ambuja Cements Ltd. (NS:ABUJ), which rose 4.11% or 10.85 points to trade at 275.05 at the close. Bosch Ltd (NS:BOSH) added 4.08% or 970.10 points to end at 24734.25 and Grasim Industries Ltd. (NS:GRAS) was up 3.52% or 159.35 points to 4683.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI), which lost 3.14% or 10.75 points to trade at 331.85 in late trade. Idea Cellular Ltd (NS:IDEA) declined 0.69% or 0.65 points to end at 93.80 and Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (NS:BHEL) shed 0.28% or 0.40 points to 140.55.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bajaj Auto Limited (BO:BAJA) which rose 3.09% to 2973.40, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which was up 2.83% to settle at 5068.90 and Hindalco Industries Ltd. (BO:HALC) which gained 2.78% to close at 162.75.
The worst performers were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 2.82% to 332.10 in late trade, Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (BO:BHEL) which lost 0.04% to settle at 140.65 and Coal India Limited (BO:COAL) which was up 0.31% to 334.90 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 909 to 535 and 81 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1019 rose and 583 declined, while 77 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.10% to 13.0200 a new 52-week low.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.22% or 2.95 to $1324.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.70% or 0.33 to hit $47.31 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.36% or 0.18 to trade at $49.63 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.12% to 67.025, while EUR/INR fell 0.26% to 74.8900.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.17% at 95.69.
