Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Auto, Oil & Gas and Metals sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 1.54% to hit a new 52-week high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 1.31%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Grasim Industries Ltd. (NS:GRAS), which rose 5.40% or 269.95 points to trade at 5265.45 at the close. Hero MotoCorp Limited (NS:HROM) added 5.12% or 167.65 points to end at 3443.95 and Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) was up 4.81% or 6.60 points to 143.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tech Mahindra Limited (NS:TEML), which lost 0.98% or 4.90 points to trade at 495.05 in late trade. POWER GRID CORPORATION OF INDIA (NS:PGRD) declined 0.95% or 1.70 points to end at 176.50 and Bharti Infratel Limited (NS:BHRI) shed 0.87% or 3.400 points to 389.250.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Hero MotoCorp Limited (BO:HROM) which rose 5.02% to 3434.30, Hindalco Industries Ltd. (BO:HALC) which was up 4.93% to settle at 143.80 and Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which gained 4.48% to close at 169.05.
The worst performers were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 0.79% to 842.35 in late trade, Wipro Ltd. (BO:WIPR) which lost 0.65% to settle at 544.85 and Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 0.56% to 363.20 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1108 to 351 and 72 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1183 rose and 441 declined, while 63 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 5.20% to 14.3525 a new 6-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.03% or 0.35 to $1367.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.83% or 0.35 to hit $41.58 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.95% or 0.42 to trade at $43.87 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.08% to 66.785, while EUR/INR rose 0.07% to 74.4480.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.16% at 95.60.
