Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Banking, Metals and Public Sector Undertakings sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.93%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 1.05%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were State Bank Of India (NS:SBI), which rose 7.11% or 16.15 points to trade at 243.30 at the close. AXIS Bank Ltd. (NS:AXBK) added 3.73% or 21.25 points to end at 591.00 and Yes Bank Ltd. (NS:YESB) was up 3.05% or 38.20 points to 1290.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL), which lost 2.83% or 16.90 points to trade at 579.95 in late trade. Idea Cellular Ltd (NS:IDEA) declined 1.57% or 1.50 points to end at 93.95 and Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL) shed 1.53% or 8.00 points to 515.95.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which rose 7.16% to 243.20, AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was up 3.99% to settle at 590.75 and Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which gained 2.85% to close at 166.00.
The worst performers were Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which was down 1.28% to 1063.30 in late trade, Cipla Ltd. (BO:CIPL) which lost 1.26% to settle at 516.65 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 0.88% to 801.80 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 762 to 702 and 71 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 833 fell and 758 advanced, while 64 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.11% to 13.7700 a new 6-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.40% or 5.35 to $1344.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.05% or 0.02 to hit $43.47 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.22% or 0.10 to trade at $45.94 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.21% to 66.890, while EUR/INR rose 0.31% to 74.5810.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.07% at 95.83.
