Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Metals, IT and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.65% to hit a new 3-month high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.68%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS), which rose 4.03% or 97.10 points to trade at 2505.00 at the close. TATA STEEL LIMITED (NS:TISC) added 3.89% or 18.20 points to end at 486.40 and Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) was up 2.99% or 29.90 points to 1030.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included AXIS Bank Ltd. (NS:AXBK), which lost 1.88% or 9.20 points to trade at 479.90 in late trade. Bosch Ltd (NS:BOSH) declined 0.95% or 209.10 points to end at 21710.00 and Tech Mahindra Limited (NS:TEML) shed 0.78% or 3.95 points to 499.55.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which rose 4.08% to 2506.50, TATA STEEL LIMITED (BO:TISC) which was up 4.01% to settle at 486.70 and Gail (India) Ltd. (BO:GAIL) which gained 2.80% to close at 524.00.
The worst performers were AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was down 1.72% to 480.60 in late trade, ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which lost 0.89% to settle at 265.85 and Housing Development Finance Corp. (BO:HDFC) which was down 0.56% to 1394.25 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 963 to 537 and 66 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1680 rose and 1122 declined, while 155 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.32% to 13.6100.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.20% or 2.45 to $1236.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.63% or 0.34 to hit $54.12 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.77% or 0.43 to trade at $56.24 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.10% to 67.005, while EUR/INR fell 0.09% to 71.1300.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 100.82.
