Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Real Estate, Capital Goods and Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.54%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.48%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were AXIS Bank Ltd. (NS:AXBK), which rose 2.85% or 13.35 points to trade at 481.70 at the close. Yes Bank Ltd. (NS:YESB) added 2.41% or 17.85 points to end at 757.50 and Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) was up 2.17% or 19.05 points to 895.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Grasim Industries Ltd. (NS:GRAS), which lost 1.28% or 46.20 points to trade at 3575.00 in late trade. ITC Ltd (NS:ITC) declined 0.76% or 2.55 points to end at 334.20 and Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI) shed 0.50% or 1.65 points to 330.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which rose 2.50% to 480.20, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was up 1.93% to settle at 746.55 and Larsen & Toubro Limited (BO:LART) which gained 1.41% to close at 1366.50.
The worst performers were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 0.93% to 328.90 in late trade, Hero MotoCorp Limited (BO:HROM) which lost 0.49% to settle at 2644.40 and ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which was down 0.46% to 335.00 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1209 to 184 and 3 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 678 rose and 101 declined, while 2 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.48% to 16.9050.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.09% or 1.00 to $1087.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.20% or 0.53 to hit $43.68 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.47% or 0.23 to trade at $47.88 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.24% to 66.060, while EUR/INR rose 0.02% to 71.0130.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.08% at 99.19.
