Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Banking, Telecoms and Basic Resources sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite gained 5.51%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr), which rose 20.35% or 0.035 points to trade at 0.207 at the close. Alpha Bank SA (AT:ACBr) added 15.59% or 0.265 points to end at 1.965 and National Bank of Greece (AT:NBGr) was up 15.00% or 0.03 points to 0.23 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Select Textile (AT:EPIr), which lost 22.78% or 0.041 points to trade at 0.139 in late trade. Autohellas (AT:AUTr) declined 2.35% or 0.27 points to end at 11.20 and Euro Reliance (AT:EREr) shed 1.54% or 0.030 points to 1.920.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 77 to 25 and 11 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.65% or 8.45 to $1289.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 2.64% or 1.22 to hit $47.43 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 2.84% or 1.34 to trade at $48.53 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.27% to 1.1256, while EUR/GBP fell 0.30% to 0.7880.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.32% at 94.47.
