Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Chemicals, Banking and Basic Resources sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite added 4.71%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Alpha Bank SA (AT:ACBr), which rose 12.58% or 0.190 points to trade at 1.700 at the close. Halcor (AT:XAKO) added 10.00% or 0.027 points to end at 0.297 and Thrace Plastic (AT:THRr) was up 9.38% or 0.120 points to 1.400 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Centric Hold (AT:DESr), which lost 7.89% or 0.009 points to trade at 0.105 in late trade. Korres (AT:KRRr) declined 3.27% or 0.110 points to end at 3.250 and Techn Olympic (AT:OLYr) shed 2.95% or 0.020 points to 0.658.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 79 to 23 and 12 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.75% or 10.00 to $1314.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.25% or 0.58 to hit $46.91 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.11% or 0.53 to trade at $48.30 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.18% to 1.1045, while EUR/GBP fell 0.53% to 0.8291.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.18% at 96.38.
