Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Household, Utilities and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite gained 2.39%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Nireus Aqua (AT:NIRr), which rose 10.00% or 0.008 points to trade at 0.088 at the close. Jumbo (AT:BABr) added 7.63% or 0.600 points to end at 8.460 and Bank Of Piraeus (AT:BOPr) was up 7.36% or 0.019 points to 0.277 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Papoutsanis (AT:PSALr), which lost 6.28% or 0.023 points to trade at 0.343 in late trade. Attica Bank (AT:BOAr) declined 4.44% or 0.002 points to end at 0.043 and Sidenor (AT:SID) shed 0.81% or 0.004 points to 0.490.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 53 to 20 and 4 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.44% or 5.20 to $1192.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 3.03% or 1.70 to hit $57.86 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 3.26% or 2.04 to trade at $64.78 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.69% to 1.0799, while EUR/GBP rose 0.61% to 0.7178.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.60% at 97.65.
