Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking, Utilities and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite rose 1.71% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Hygeia (AT:HYGr), which rose 6.79% or 0.015 points to trade at 0.236 at the close. Athens Medical (AT:AMCr) added 6.63% or 0.037 points to end at 0.595 and Fourlis Hld (AT:FRLr) was up 6.51% or 0.270 points to 4.420 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Revoil Petrol (AT:REVr), which lost 4.43% or 0.016 points to trade at 0.345 in late trade. Iktinos Hellas (AT:IKTr) declined 2.10% or 0.0180 points to end at 0.8400 and Select Textile (AT:EPIr) shed 1.08% or 0.002 points to 0.184.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 72 to 27 and 18 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.70% or 8.75 to $1245.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.07% or 0.04 to hit $53.97 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.02% or 0.01 to trade at $56.52 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.17% to 1.0559, while EUR/GBP rose 0.39% to 0.8575.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.34% at 101.67.
