Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Resources, Chemicals and Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite rose 0.78%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Mytilineos (AT:MYTr), which rose 5.84% or 0.33 points to trade at 5.98 at the close. Thrace Plastic (AT:THRr) added 5.60% or 0.07 points to end at 1.32 and Centric Hold (AT:DESr) was up 4.71% or 0.008 points to 0.178 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Papoutsanis (AT:PSALr), which lost 9.74% or 0.034 points to trade at 0.315 in late trade. Nireus Aqua (AT:NIRr) declined 8.89% or 0.008 points to end at 0.082 and Quest Holdings (AT:IQTr) shed 7.22% or 0.35 points to 4.85.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 44 to 34 on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.94% or 11.40 to $1196.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 2.12% or 1.06 to hit $49.03 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 3.51% or 2.00 to trade at $55.09 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.06% to 1.0876, while EUR/GBP rose 0.94% to 0.7329.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.76% at 97.78.
