Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Media, Banking and Chemicals sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite added 0.74%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Attica Bank SA (AT:BOAr), which rose 7.29% or 0.007 points to trade at 0.103 at the close. Papoutsanis (AT:PSALr) added 7.06% or 0.012 points to end at 0.182 and Ellaktor SA (AT:HELr) was up 5.63% or 0.080 points to 1.500 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Iktinos Hellas (AT:IKTr), which lost 3.74% or 0.0400 points to trade at 1.0300 in late trade. Hellenic Petroleum SA (AT:HEPr) declined 2.31% or 0.160 points to end at 6.780 and Thrace Plastic (AT:THRr) shed 2.29% or 0.060 points to 2.560.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 63 to 34 and 15 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.64% or 8.19 to $1263.81 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 1.28% or 0.62 to hit $48.94 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.91% or 0.46 to trade at $51.22 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.24% to 1.1217, while EUR/GBP fell 0.31% to 0.8697.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.19% at 97.09.
