Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Chemicals, Healthcare and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite gained 0.32%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Dromeas (AT:DROr), which rose 11.21% or 0.013 points to trade at 0.129 at the close. Attica Bank (AT:BOAr) added 7.14% or 0.003 points to end at 0.045 and Thrace Plastic (AT:THRr) was up 5.38% or 0.07 points to 1.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Elgeka (AT:ELGr), which lost 9.93% or 0.027 points to trade at 0.245 in late trade. Autohellas (AT:AUTr) declined 5.75% or 0.69 points to end at 11.30 and Elval (AT:VAL) shed 4.96% or 0.07 points to 1.41.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 50 to 39 and 5 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.98% or 10.90 to $1127.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 3.32% or 1.43 to hit $41.69 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 2.43% or 1.19 to trade at $47.62 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.30% to 1.1058, while EUR/GBP rose 0.34% to 0.7066.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.09% at 96.90.
