Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Household, Food and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite added 0.23%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Select Textile (AT:EPIr), which rose 8.44% or 0.013 points to trade at 0.167 at the close. J. & P. Avax (AT:AVAr) added 4.89% or 0.023 points to end at 0.485 and Creta Plastics (AT:PLAKR) was up 4.58% or 0.230 points to 5.250 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Papoutsanis (AT:PSALr), which lost 8.84% or 0.019 points to trade at 0.196 in late trade. Attica Bank SA (AT:BOAr) declined 4.26% or 0.002 points to end at 0.045 and Centric Hold (AT:DESr) shed 3.92% or 0.004 points to 0.098.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 53 to 47 and 11 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was down 0.94% or 11.25 to $1186.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 2.10% or 1.11 to hit $53.86 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 2.34% or 1.29 to trade at $56.37 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.78% to 1.0667, while EUR/GBP fell 0.26% to 0.8484.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.75% at 100.66.
