Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Media, Financials and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite added 0.15%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Attica Bank SA (AT:BOAr), which rose 7.59% or 0.006 points to trade at 0.085 at the close. Hygeia (AT:HYGr) added 3.68% or 0.011 points to end at 0.310 and Revoil Petrol (AT:REVr) was up 3.68% or 0.014 points to 0.394 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Aegean Airlines (AT:AGNr), which lost 3.59% or 0.30 points to trade at 8.06 in late trade. Flexopack SA (AT:FLXr) declined 3.00% or 0.1400 points to end at 4.5000 and Public Power (AT:DEHr) shed 2.14% or 0.09 points to 4.12.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 61 to 44 and 18 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.73% or 21.36 to $1257.76 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.15% or 0.56 to hit $49.22 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.34% or 0.69 to trade at $52.34 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.52% to 1.1141, while EUR/GBP rose 0.23% to 0.8599.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.59% at 97.52.
