Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Utilities and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.93% to hit a new 1-month low, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.81%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Bouygues SA (PA:BOUY), which rose 2.81% or 0.79 points to trade at 28.87 at the close. Orange SA (PA:ORAN) added 2.02% or 0.27 points to end at 13.37 and Kering SA (PA:PRTP) was up 0.60% or 1.05 points to 174.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Societe Generale (PA:SOGN), which lost 2.73% or 0.88 points to trade at 31.13 in late trade. Renault SA (PA:RENA) declined 2.36% or 1.68 points to end at 69.36 and BNP Paribas SA (PA:BNPP) shed 2.29% or 1.04 points to 44.64.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Bouygues SA (PA:BOUY) which rose 2.81% to 28.87, Euler Hermes (PA:ELER) which was up 2.58% to settle at 76.70 and Orange SA (PA:ORAN) which gained 2.02% to close at 13.37.
The worst performers were Korian Medica SA (PA:KORI) which was down 5.41% to 29.085 in late trade, Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which lost 3.07% to settle at 3.783 and Societe Generale (PA:SOGN) which was down 2.73% to 31.13 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 380 to 278 and 107 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 3.51% to 20.50.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.47% or 6.15 to $1311.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 2.16% or 0.95 to hit $42.96 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.67% or 0.78 to trade at $45.81 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.79% to 1.1155, while EUR/GBP rose 0.49% to 0.8535.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.78% at 96.02.
