Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Financials, Utilities and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 0.82%, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.74%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Technip (PA:TECF), which rose 1.99% or 1.05 points to trade at 53.74 at the close. Pernod Ricard SA (PA:PERP) added 0.43% or 0.45 points to end at 104.90 and Danone SA (PA:DANO) was up 0.13% or 0.09 points to 68.62 in late trade.
Biggest losers included AXA SA (PA:AXAF), which lost 2.72% or 0.49 points to trade at 17.50 in late trade. Societe Generale (PA:SOGN) declined 2.23% or 0.69 points to end at 30.06 and Lafargeholcim Ltd (PA:LHN) shed 1.96% or 0.92 points to 46.12.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were DBV Technologies (PA:DBV) which rose 2.07% to 61.250, Technip (PA:TECF) which was up 1.99% to settle at 53.74 and Europcar Groupe SA (PA:EUCAR) which gained 1.27% to close at 7.79.
The worst performers were SCOR SE (PA:SCOR) which was down 2.81% to 24.91 in late trade, AXA SA (PA:AXAF) which lost 2.72% to settle at 17.50 and Societe Generale (PA:SOGN) which was down 2.23% to 30.06 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 381 to 239 and 112 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 3.47% to 19.87.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.67% or 9.15 to $1348.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.10% or 0.05 to hit $48.27 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.35% or 0.18 to trade at $50.71 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.33% to 1.1316, while EUR/GBP rose 0.61% to 0.8675.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.49% at 94.57.
