Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Oil & Gas and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 0.44%, while the SBF 120 index added 0.51%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Technip (PA:TECF), which rose 3.62% or 1.84 points to trade at 52.69 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) added 3.14% or 0.176 points to end at 5.790 and Schneider Electric SE (PA:SCHN) was up 1.43% or 0.86 points to 60.87 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Airbus Group (PA:AIR), which lost 1.36% or 0.69 points to trade at 50.00 in late trade. L’Oreal SA (PA:OREP) declined 0.63% or 1.10 points to end at 172.70 and Pernod Ricard SA (PA:PERP) shed 0.48% or 0.50 points to 104.45.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Nexans (PA:NEXS) which rose 4.65% to 48.12, Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which was up 4.57% to settle at 4.510 and Technip (PA:TECF) which gained 3.62% to close at 52.69.
The worst performers were Airbus Group (PA:AIR) which was down 1.36% to 50.00 in late trade, Euler Hermes (PA:ELER) which lost 1.23% to settle at 72.00 and Sartorius Stedim Biotech (PA:STDM) which was down 0.81% to 62.71 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 402 to 233 and 114 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 4.17% to 19.20.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.52% or 6.95 to $1355.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 2.76% or 1.29 to hit $48.08 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.81% or 0.90 to trade at $50.75 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.39% to 1.1334, while EUR/GBP fell 0.43% to 0.8623.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.44% at 94.27.
