Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas Producers, Oil & Gas and Technology Hardware & Equipment sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 0.10%, while the SBF 120 index added 0.14%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Total SA (PARIS:TOTF), which rose 2.18% or 0.86 points to trade at 40.62 at the close. Unibail Rodamco SE (AMS:UNBP) added 1.79% or 3.95 points to end at 225.00 and Alcatel Lucent SA (PARIS:ALUA) was up 1.75% or 0.055 points to 3.204 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (AMS:ISPA), which lost 3.53% or 0.19 points to trade at 5.27 in late trade. Credit Agricole SA (PARIS:CAGR) declined 2.61% or 0.280 points to end at 10.455 and Peugeot SA (PARIS:PEUP) shed 2.56% or 0.35 points to 13.50.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Montupet SA (PARIS:MNTP) which rose 10.26% to 57.170, Alten (PARIS:LTEN) which was up 5.10% to settle at 46.60 and Orpea (PARIS:ORP) which gained 4.51% to close at 71.44.
The worst performers were Vallourec (PARIS:VLLP) which was down 4.71% to 8.99 in late trade, ArcelorMittal SA (AMS:ISPA) which lost 3.53% to settle at 5.27 and Zodiac Aerospace (PARIS:ZODC) which was down 2.85% to 21.84 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 373 to 356 and 52 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 3.22% to 29.48.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.56% or 6.30 to $1131.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 2.80% or 1.30 to hit $45.06 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.54% or 0.76 to trade at $48.33 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.45% to 1.1178, while EUR/GBP rose 1.25% to 0.7330.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.12% at 96.39.
