Investing.com – China equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Media and Retailers sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Shanghai, the Shanghai Composite fell 1.13%, while the SZSE Component index fell 0.69%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Shanghai Composite were China Shipping (SS:601866), which rose 10.05% or 1.050 points to trade at 11.500 at the close. Merchants Ship (SS:601872) added 10.03% or 1.010 points to end at 11.080 and Cn First Heavy (SS:601106) was up 10.03% or 1.370 points to 15.030 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bohai Ferry (SS:603167), which lost 10.01% or 1.880 points to trade at 16.910 in late trade. Hundsun Tech (SS:600570) declined 10.00% or 12.140 points to end at 109.300 and Tianchen Co (SS:600620) shed 10.00% or 2.310 points to 20.800.
The top performers on the SZSE Component were Gree Electric Appliances Inc of Zhuhai (SZ:000651) which rose 10.01% to 56.39, Iflytek Co Ltd (SZ:002230) which was up 10.01% to settle at 49.80 and Leshi Internet Info Tech (SZ:300104) which gained 8.92% to close at 122.00.
The worst performers were Pangang Group Vanadium Titanium & Resources Co Ltd (SZ:000629) which was down 8.13% to 5.31 in late trade, Suzhou Gold Mantis Construction Decoration Co Ltd (SZ:002081) which lost 7.12% to settle at 30.01 and Yantai Jereh Oilfield Services Group Co Ltd (SZ:002353) which was down 6.57% to 38.14 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 802 to 160 on the Shanghai Stock Exchange.
The CBOE China Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Shanghai Composite options, was up 2.60% to 33.89.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.22% or 2.70 to $1200.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 1.14% or 0.65 to hit $56.34 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.96% or 0.62 to trade at $64.21 a barrel.
USD/CNY was down 0.20% to 6.2065, while EUR/CNY fell 0.16% to 6.7582.
The US Dollar Index was unchanged 0.00% at 96.90.
