Investing.com – China equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Software & Computer Services, Technology and Technology Hardware & Equipment sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Shanghai, the Shanghai Composite rose 2.32%, while the SZSE Component index added 2.91%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Shanghai Composite were Sichuan Expres (SS:601107), which rose 10.11% or 0.460 points to trade at 5.010 at the close. Guodong Constr (SS:600321) added 10.10% or 0.500 points to end at 5.450 and Meiyan Jixiang (SS:600868) was up 10.09% or 0.570 points to 6.220 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Jonjee Tech (SS:600872), which lost 10.02% or 1.950 points to trade at 17.510 in late trade. Xingye Resourc (SS:600603) declined 9.96% or 1.380 points to end at 12.470 and Start Group (SS:600734) shed 7.55% or 0.600 points to 7.350.
The top performers on the SZSE Component were Guangdong Orient Zirconic Ind Sci & Tech Co Ltd (SZ:002167) which rose 10.04% to 8.22, Zhejiang Wanma Co Ltd (SZ:002276) which was up 10.03% to settle at 17.11 and Hongbo Co Ltd (SZ:002229) which gained 10.02% to close at 14.49.
The worst performers were Vtron Technologies Ltd (SZ:002308) which was down 10.01% to 25.080 in late trade, Zhangzidao Group Co Ltd (SZ:002069) which lost 10.01% to settle at 16.00 and Yunnan Copper Co Ltd (SZ:000878) which was down 9.98% to 19.85 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 921 to 27 on the Shanghai Stock Exchange.
The CBOE China Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Shanghai Composite options, was down 11.74% to 48.96.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.04% or 0.50 to $1121.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.28% or 0.13 to hit $45.81 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.30% or 0.15 to trade at $49.67 a barrel.
USD/CNY was up 0.13% to 6.3756, while EUR/CNY fell 0.01% to 7.1325.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.24% at 96.07.
