Investing.com – China equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Banking, Telecoms and Mobile sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Shanghai, the Shanghai Composite added 2.16% to hit a new 3-year high, while the SZSE Component index climbed 0.97%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Shanghai Composite were Wintime Energy (SS:600157), which rose 10.09% or 0.54 points to trade at 5.89 at the close. Jinzhou Port-B (SS:900952) added 10.09% or 0.058 points to end at 0.633 and Inesa Electron B (SS:900901) was up 10.07% or 0.071 points to 0.776 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Wenfeng Chain (SS:601010), which lost 7.82% or 1.680 points to trade at 19.800 in late trade. Baida Group (SS:600865) declined 3.75% or 0.680 points to end at 17.470 and Prosolar Resou (SS:600193) shed 3.61% or 0.470 points to 12.540.
The top performers on the SZSE Component were BOE Technology Group Co Ltd (SZ:000725) which rose 9.91% to 4.66, Iflytek Co Ltd (SZ:002230) which was up 8.60% to settle at 68.05 and Weichai Power Co Ltd (SZ:000338) which gained 6.35% to close at 35.00.
The worst performers were Suzhou Gold Mantis Construction Decoration Co Ltd (SZ:002081) which was down 2.83% to 33.33 in late trade, GF Securities Co Ltd (SZ:000776) which lost 2.03% to settle at 29.99 and Zhejiang Dahua Technology Co Ltd (SZ:002236) which was down 1.73% to 39.76 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 818 to 141 on the Shanghai Stock Exchange.
The CBOE China Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Shanghai Composite options, was down 0.67% to 33.85.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to $1204.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.50% or 0.78 to hit $52.41 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 1.18% or 0.69 to trade at $59.65 a barrel.
USD/CNY was up 0.09% to 6.2147, while EUR/CNY rose 0.01% to 6.5854.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.12% at 99.75.
