China shares higher at close of trade; Shanghai Composite up 1.95%

Investing.com – China equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Life Insurance, Technology Hardware & Equipment and Media sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Shanghai, the Shanghai Composite rose 1.95% to hit a new 3-year high, while the SZSE Component index climbed 1.57%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Shanghai Composite were Wintime Energy (SS:600157), which rose 10.08% or 0.49 points to trade at 5.35 at the close. Eastern Comms B (SS:900941) added 10.07% or 0.069 points to end at 0.754 and Nanjing Steel (SS:600282) was up 10.07% or 0.540 points to 5.900 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Freetrade Tech (SS:600794), which lost 3.23% or 0.390 points to trade at 11.700 in late trade. Double Coin A (SS:600623) declined 3.21% or 0.980 points to end at 29.550 and Dalian Sun Asi (SS:600593) shed 2.94% or 0.820 points to 27.090.

The top performers on the SZSE Component were Ping An Bank Co Ltd (SZ:000001) which rose 10.00% to 19.80, Iflytek Co Ltd (SZ:002230) which was up 7.06% to settle at 62.66 and BOE Technology Group Co Ltd (SZ:000725) which gained 3.41% to close at 4.24.

The worst performers were China Vanke Co Ltd (SZ:000002) which was down 2.19% to 14.32 in late trade, Financial Street Holdings Co Ltd (SZ:000402) which lost 2.03% to settle at 13.03 and Shenzhen Overseas Chinese Town Co Ltd (SZ:000069) which was down 1.17% to 10.16 at the close.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 883 to 79 on the Shanghai Stock Exchange.

The CBOE China Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Shanghai Composite options, was up 14.94% to 34.08 a new 52-week .

In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.14% or 1.70 to $1195.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.47% or 0.24 to hit $50.55 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.10% or 0.06 to trade at $56.62 a barrel.

USD/CNY was up 0.07% to 6.2091, while EUR/CNY fell 0.32% to 6.5966.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.23% at 99.47.
