Investing.com – China equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Gas, Water & Multiutilities, Software & Computer Services and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Shanghai, the Shanghai Composite added 1.83% to hit a new 3-year high, while the SZSE Component index added 4.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Shanghai Composite were Baotou Steel (SS:600010), which rose 10.08% or 0.640 points to trade at 6.990 at the close. Jihua Group (SS:601718) added 10.06% or 0.910 points to end at 9.960 and Changhong Elec (SS:600839) was up 10.04% or 0.670 points to 7.340 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Csr Corp (SS:601766), which lost 10.01% or 3.540 points to trade at 31.840 in late trade. China Cnr (SS:601299) declined 10.00% or 3.760 points to end at 33.850 and Cn Railway Con (SS:601186) shed 8.12% or 2.110 points to 23.860.
The top performers on the SZSE Component were Leshi Internet Info Tech (SZ:300104) which rose 10.01% to 90.48, Jiangsu Yanghe Brewery Joint-Stock Co Ltd (SZ:002304) which was up 10.00% to settle at 100.63 and Changjiang Securities Co Ltd (SZ:000783) which gained 10.00% to close at 18.92.
The worst performers were Goertek Inc (SZ:002241) which was unchanged 0% to 33.48 in late trade, Chongqing Changan Automobile Co Ltd (SZ:000625) which unchanged 0% to settle at 20.29 and Iflytek Co Ltd (SZ:002230) which was unchanged 0% to 68.05 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 895 to 67 on the Shanghai Stock Exchange.
The CBOE China Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Shanghai Composite options, was down 0.86% to 32.39.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.02% or 0.20 to $1193.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.76% or 0.44 to hit $57.44 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.65% or 0.41 to trade at $63.03 a barrel.
USD/CNY was unchanged 0.00% to 6.2019, while EUR/CNY fell 0.69% to 6.6116.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.51% at 98.66.
