Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Healthcare, Technology and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 0.94%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were ING Groep NV (AS:INGA), which rose 0.84% or 0.120 points to trade at 14.400 at the close. Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) added 0.23% or 0.07 points to end at 31.08 and Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to 12.48 in late trade.
Biggest losers included UCB (BR:UCB), which lost 4.90% or 3.51 points to trade at 68.18 in late trade. Aperam (AS:APAM) declined 2.66% or 1.29 points to end at 47.38 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) shed 2.24% or 1.710 points to 74.650.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 80 to 38 and 10 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.96% or 11.85 to $1245.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 1.33% or 0.65 to hit $48.26 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 1.03% or 0.53 to trade at $51.09 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.70% to 1.0814, while EUR/GBP fell 0.36% to 0.8659.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.68% at 99.48.
