Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Financials, Utilities and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.73%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD), which rose 0.56% or 0.11 points to trade at 19.73 at the close. Umicore NV (BR:UMI) unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to end at 54.46 and Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) was down 0.19% or 0.09 points to 46.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included KBC (BR:KBC), which lost 1.88% or 1.150 points to trade at 59.890 in late trade. ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) declined 1.44% or 0.200 points to end at 13.705 and Telenet Group (BR:TNET) shed 1.42% or 0.75 points to 52.10.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 71 to 40 and 12 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was up 0.88% or 10.35 to $1183.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 3.00% or 1.62 to hit $52.37 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 2.94% or 1.68 to trade at $55.42 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.40% to 1.0575, while EUR/GBP rose 1.39% to 0.8694.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.25% at 101.91.
