Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Beverage, Consumer Goods and Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 0.66%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Umicore NV (BRU:UMI), which rose 0.90% or 0.34 points to trade at 37.95 at the close. DIeteren SA (BRU:IETB) added 0.66% or 0.225 points to end at 34.205 and Ackermans V.Haaren (BRU:ACKB) was up 0.62% or 0.85 points to 137.85 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Delta Lloyd (AMS:DLL), which lost 3.74% or 0.44 points to trade at 11.40 in late trade. Anheuser-Busch Inbev SA (BRU:ABI) declined 1.64% or 1.75 points to end at 104.95 and Telenet Group (BRU:TNET) shed 1.13% or 0.59 points to 51.76.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 100 to 63 and 6 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.21% or 2.30 to $1113.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.11% or 0.47 to hit $42.70 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.59% or 0.29 to trade at $49.34 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.31% to 1.1116, while EUR/GBP fell 0.40% to 0.7113.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.24% at 96.59.
