Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Industrials, Construction & Materials and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.66% to hit a new 3-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were UCB (BRU:UCB), which rose 0.37% or 0.23 points to trade at 63.18 at the close. Ackermans V.Haaren (BRU:ACKB) added 0.36% or 0.45 points to end at 124.95 and GDF Suez (PARIS:GSZ) was down 0.06% or 0.01 points to 16.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included bpost NV (BRU:BPOST), which lost 2.49% or 0.62 points to trade at 24.50 in late trade. NV Bekaert SA (BRU:BEKB) declined 1.70% or 0.44 points to end at 25.44 and Befimmo-Sicafi (BRU:BEFBb) shed 1.48% or 0.830 points to 55.260.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 122 to 46 and 10 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.45% or 5.30 to $1175.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.12% or 0.68 to hit $59.77 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.89% or 0.56 to trade at $63.13 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.00% to 1.1246, while EUR/GBP fell 0.42% to 0.7156.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.02% at 95.23.
